Humans possess the one thing that means more to the horse than anything in the world- peace and comfort.
Whether it’s horses or whatever it is you do, it doesn’t become Art until your soul goes into what you do.
- Buck Brannaman
The Art of Rescue nonprofit is here to help our equine partners who did not start out with a gentle hand. Trauma is not only a human experience, and without help these horses will end up in awful circumstances.
Mission
Our commitment is to our equine partners
Many many horses start life experiencing rough, “old school” approaches to training. You may hear the phrase, “He was cowboyed hard”, “He needed to be shown who was boss”. Unfortunately, the horses that are not able to “handle” these types of training are passed around and may eventually end up at a feedlot, sick, alone, and afraid.
Our mission is to intervene in this dreadful cycle and provide a space for horses to recover from training trauma, learn to trust people, and find their place with humans.
We are here for the draft, baroque draft, and cob type horses in need.
These horse types are known for their gentle nature and desirable size, yet this also means that they are often cross bred and marketed well before maturity. These horses need time to develop mentally and physically, which means they are often overfaced at a young age. With the help of this nonprofit, these horse can have the time they need to develop and receive training that is mindful of their cognitive needs.
Community
People healing Horses- Horses healing people
This nonprofit supports equine therapy hours, volunteers, and natural horsemanship clinics that will teach the public how to better listen to their equine partners. Each horse that is funded by The Art of Rescue nonprofit will have the choice to help heal their human partners in equine therapy sessions, giving back to the community through mental health support.
